Replies to Family Member Letter about Rages

Family of Borderline Personality Disorder

I have an adopted child with BPD/Borderline Traits. After being subjected to her rages for 10 years, we finally told her we love her but cannot live with her unless and until she takes responsibility for her behaviors/illness. She is in a group home and has actually made progress once she saw that we weren't the only people that do not want to live with rage filled drama-holics. Things are better.

The truth is, no matter how much we love someone, we have right to have a decent life too. Either the person learns to control the behavior with therapy/meds/self-realization or you continue to live with them and let them destroy your life along with their own.

Worn-out Parent.
