By recognizing the signs of abuse, you may be able to help stop the violence. Warning signs include:
Someone tells you her partner always puts her down in public.
Her partner gets overly jealous when others, especially men, pay her attention.
She becomes quiet when her partner is nearby.
She seems afraid of making him angry.
She stops seeing her friends and becomes more and more isolated.
Her partner takes control of the finances.
She regularly cancels plans at the last minute.
You see him violently lose his temper.
She has unexplained injuries.
She laughs off his violent behavior.
